I've said many times that I get to work with the best couples and these two were no exception. From the moment I met with Cara and Mark, we instantly clicked. Every meeting with them was so laid back and it was a total joy to help plan and celebrate their marriage. Spending time with Cara and Mark during their engagement was so special for me. Their affection and level of care for one another was the sweetest thing to witness. I am so excited to have befriended them and to watch them grow even closer in their marriage.
Cara and Mark were wed on October 8th at The Old Blue Rooster in Canal Winchester. This was my first experience with OBR and I was so pleased with their staff and everything about their venue! The property is gorgeous, featuring multiple ceremony sites - a lake, an arbor, a bridge, and a plantation house. The Shelter House, where the reception was held, has sides that can be attached in the colder months and has a fire pit just outside for s'mores! S'mores at a wedding are my FAVORITE. Cara and Mark went all out to please their guests - they had an extensive and incredible dessert table (I'm talking donuts, fruit pizza, cookies, chocolate and more), a popcorn bar with fresh hot popcorn, every seasoning imaginable, and candy to top it off, PLUS s'mores once the sun went down. Needless to say, I'm a pretty big sweets junkie ;). I had at least one of everything!
Everything at Cara and Mark's wedding was very personal and dear to their hearts. Their dogs, Wesson and Bennie, were featured in their centerpieces and their favors were even more special. Cara and Mark made donations to their two favorite organizations in lieu of tradition favors - the I Have A Dream Rescue Organization in honor of their foster dog, Genevieve and the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University in honor of Mark's mother, Veronica, who they lost in 2011. The guests received cookies in the shapes of dog bones and cancer ribbons with notes about their meaning to Cara and Mark.
Their navy, gray, and gold wedding was on the most beautiful fall day and the love shared between these two and their families made it complete and perfect. I am so excited to share their adorable love with you!

I have a cute story to share about the little guy pictured below. Garrett is Mark's nephew and was their Ring Bearer. When Garrett and his family showed up early for pictures, I got a chance to chat with them. I have always loved kids and my part time job is a nanny, so I typically gravitate toward the families with kiddos. Garrett and I sort of bonded early in the day so we stayed buddies as the day went on. During the reception, I was restocking the popcorn bar when Garrett came to me and said he couldn't unbutton his pants to use the restroom! I helped him and he went back in to do his business. A few seconds later, I hear him yell in frustration from the restroom and he comes back out. He finds me again and says, 'There are TWO buttons!" Ha! Poor kid just had to go and those fancy pants were making it hard! I helped him again and he went back to the restroom. I found his mom out by the fire and told her what happened, we had a good laugh and she gave me permission to share the story and his photo.
As I said, it was just a pure joy to work with Cara and Mark. I am continually amazed that I get to live out my dream as a Wedding Planner and I am so thankful for the amazing couples who believe in me and One Weddings. Best wishes to Cara and Mark as they continue to grow in their love and marriage!
